Planar monopole antennas provide satisfactory radiation performance over a wide impedance bandwidth and are simple to manufacture and low in cost. This type of antenna can cover not only the GSM900, GSM1800/PCS1900, IMT-2000, 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz ISM bands, but also the UWB band of 1.910.6GHz.
The antenna is mounted on a ground plane, which may be the actual ground or an artificial ground plane such as a vehicle body. The feeding of the monopole antenna is performed using a coaxial cable at the lower end, and the grounding conductor of the feeder is connected to the platform.
