Lightning protection of telecommunication tower stations


Lightning towers protect buildings from lightning strikes within a radius around the building, and transmit power to any energy battery connected to the building.

Calculation of the protection zone II (D = 45m) III (D = 60m) The protection radius Rp of the OPR is given by the French standard NF C 17-102 of July 1995. It depends on the measured TPR of the start of the OPR in the high-voltage laboratory, calculated according to the lightning risk assessment guidelines (French standard NF C 17-102, Appendix B). The degree of protection is calculated in accordance with Annex B of the French standard NF C 17-102. For OPR 60, experiments performed by members of the Gimelec (Electrical Equipment Materials and Related Industrial Electronic Materials Industry Group) members have limited the T value used for protection radius calculations to 60 µs.
