A cell phone tower disguised as a tree
In 1996, a palm tree came to Cape Town, South Africa. The tree rises flat overnight, and it's not just a tree: it's one of the first fake cell phone towers in the world. Instead of standing on the ground in a cold and boring metal tower, mobile operators began to focus on integrating the signal tower with the natural environment. This concept of "pseudo tree" spread rapidly to Cape Town, South Africa and the whole world.
