The structure of the radio tower
The antenna structure used for long-wave, medium-wave and short-wave is often composed of several or even dozens of radio towers to form an antenna array according to the directional requirements, and horizontal or vertical antennas and wire nets are suspended on the radio tower. The mast layout of the long wave antenna, strong directional medium wave antenna and short wave antenna is shown in the figure. For ultrashort waves and microwaves, only antennas need to be placed on a single tower. However, in order to meet the requirements of the propagation distance, higher towers are often required. Structure form The radio tower mainly has three forms: steel mast, steel tower, and reinforced concrete tower. For its structure and calculation, see mast structure and tower structure. Steel masts are mostly used for long wave, medium wave, short wave antennas and TV antennas. A 644.28m long wave mast in Warsaw, Poland was the tallest structure in the world in the 1970s. American TV towers have more masts. There are more than 70 masts above 450 meters, with the highest being 630 meters. Steel towers are also used as supports for antennas of various wavelengths, and higher steel towers are used as TV towers and telecommunications towers. In the 1970s, the tallest steel tower in the world was a TV tower with a height of 380 meters in Kiev, Soviet Union. Other taller ones were the Tokyo TV Tower in Japan with a height of 333 meters, the Milwaukee TV Tower in the United States with a height of 329 meters, the Eiffel Tower in Paris with a height of 321 meters, and Lenin in the Soviet Union. The Gele TV Tower is 316 meters high, and the San Francisco TV Tower is 298 meters high. The taller steel towers in China include the Shanghai TV Tower 210 meters high and the Guangzhou TV Tower 200 meters high. Reinforced concrete towers are also mostly used as TV towers and telecommunications towers. In the 1970s, the world’s tallest reinforced concrete tower was the 553-meter-high Toronto TV Tower in Canada, followed by the Soviet Union’s Moscow TV tower with a 533-meter height, and the 365-meter-high Democratic Germany. The East Berlin TV Tower, the 331-meter-high Frankfurt TV Tower in the Federal Republic of Germany. The tallest Chinese reinforced concrete TV tower is the 220-meter-high Wuhan TV Tower. (See color picture) In order to save investment and land, the TV tower can be used comprehensively. For example, the Tokyo TV Tower serves six TV companies, accommodating the necessary transmission equipment and antennas, and is also used by FM radio stations, telecommunications companies, meteorological departments, tourism businesses, fire departments, news agencies, etc. to make the tower fully effective. . Toronto, Moscow, Wuhan and other TV towers also have facilities such as a tour platform and revolving restaurant. Set the relay tower in the middle.
