Growing cell phone use requires a lot of cell towers, but no one wants to see them in bare bones. In addition, many residents believe that living, working or attending school near cell towers may increase the risk of cancer or other health problems. That's why telcos came up with the clever idea of using camouflaged towers that look like trees, flagpoles, water tanks or church towers.
For seven years, Robert Voit has traveled the world photographing these strange trees - including false pines, palms, and Arizona's cacti. So take a good look at the photos and make sure you don't cut them out one day.
