  • The United States introduced the first internet access service using power lines
    Jan 09, 2018

The new technology, called AirGig, will use millimeter-wave signals, abbreviated "millimeter-wave." Because millimeter waves have a wider transmission band than traditional telephony and fiber optic lines, AirGig provides faster and even faster speeds than current US industry speeds of up to 1 Gbps per second. There is currently no specific timetable for the commercial deployment of this technology. As technology continues to evolve, pilots will also expand.

As power lines are used to distribute signals, there is no need to create a new infrastructure to provide existing customers faster Internet speeds. And in some remote or sparsely populated areas, there is no high-speed Internet for quick and easy connections. AT & T is not a world-renowned company. However, the importance of the Internet in everyday life is self-evident, and allowing every American to get up and running quickly and cheaply is a worthwhile undertaking.
